History

The All Karnataka Children's Association more popularly known as "MAKKALA KOOTA" founded in 1938 by Smt.r.Kalyanamma, is a registered association under the Mysore Societies Act working for the cause of children. Smt.r.Kalyanamma was a Veteran Social Worker, Bench Magistrate, First Women vice-President of Bangalore Municipality now Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike.

The Association is located in the heart of the City of Bangalore with a spacious playground and sprawling trees adding to its beauty. Appreciating the services of the Association, the entire area is named as "Smt.R.Kalyanamma Children's playground" leased by Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike for 99 years. This is the oldest Children's Association in the State of Karnataka catering to the needs of the younger generation for the past 72 years.

So far the Association has conducted 28 Children's State Level Conferences in different parts of Karnataka and 43 children's Annual Summer Camps in Bangalore.

A good number of children have participated in these State Level Conferences and summer camps and have benefited to become good citizens of India.

Quite a number of important persons have visited our Association. Smt. Indira Gandhi, the then Prime Minister of India, several VIPs, Governors, and Chief Ministers of the State and Mayors of the City of Bangalore have graciously visited the KOOTA and have appreciated the activities of the Association.

On recognizing the services rendered by the Association, the Government of Karnataka has awarded a Citation and encouraged the Association to render greater services for the cause of children.
